Standardization Division

Standardization Division was established as per the Bhutan Standards Act 2010 to develop and publish national standards and also facilitate their implementation to assure promotion of quality infrastructure,and services critical to the economic development of

the country.Besides publishing the national standards,the Division facilitates the implementation of the standards through publicity and creating awareness programmes of the standards.

Standards are formulated following the international best practice.

What is a standard?

“Standard is a document that provides requirements, specifications, guidelines   or characteristics that can be used consistently to ensure that or characteristics that can be used consistently to ensure that materials, products, processes and services are fit for their purpose”

Notification

The Board of Bhutan Standards Bureau (BSB) during its 9th Board Meeting held on 26th April 2018 endorsed a list of 87 Bhutan National Standards (BTS) for Civil Engineering, Food & Agriculture, Basic & Management Systems, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Pharmaceuticals & Traditional Medicines, Wood & Timber Products, and Mechanical Engineering.

While the National Standards published by BSB are voluntary in nature, any agency desiring to use BSB standards for mandatory purpose may do so through a separate directives or regulations. (Note*** The list of the standards is updated under - Buy standards - List of Bhutan Standards)
